The power of happiness

New Monday comic up! George managed to drive Chain-link's blues away...not that he really wanted him to. I got the idea to change the background gradually to reflect the positive vibes pushing out Chain-link's blues as I was actually drawing the comic...one of those lucky occurrances. I think.

I have good news and I have bad news.

The bad news is that apparently the databases that help run my main website are currently missing. Yep, missing. So right now the comic archives don't work. My help request to my web host is not going through, either.

The good news is, I just saved a ton of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico!

Sorry, I couldn't resist. The good news is that the new comic is up about 12 hours earlier than I expected it to be. So join me in my bittersweet moment and read the comic strip above!

Just so no one gets upset...

I usually try to get the comics up first thing in the morning on Mondays and Thursdays, but tomorrow's comic isn't going to get up until pretty late at night...blame UPS for taking so long in shipping my replacement graphics pen out to me.

The oooolll' "yawn & stretch."

Monday's new comic is up. It was a lot of fun to draw, yet took a...very long time. Still, I'm happy with the end result. I can't help but chuckle at it in spite of myself. So guys, learn from George's mistake and save a dislocated shoulder or sprained wrist or something.

It's a race against the clock for Thursday's comic, as I lost my special graphics pen and had to send off for a new one...if it's not here by Wednesday I'm going to have to go the ol' traditional pen & paper route, which I don't want to do...having a graphics tablet has spoiled me so.

Sorry, buddy, nothing I can do.

New Thursday comic up (see above if you somehow missed the three boxes containing the drawings and the joke). Those of us who are more...technologically talented than our many friends, family members, and coworkers should know exactly what this feels like. Or maybe you've been on the receiving end of, "sorry, nothing I can do about that." Either way, hope you get a chuckle.

And also let me remind you (or have I even told you to begin with?) that you can subscribe to the XML comics feed and get George delivered to your news aggregator every Monday and Thursday!

Finally updated my profile.

So all you people out there can learn more about me. This way when I'm rich and famous from doing the comic strip, you can all say you knew me back before I got big. *polishes knuckles on lapel*

Valentine's Day Comic!

Well, the Valentine's Day comic is up...I guess it's already Valentine's day in half the country as I write this (not here in California yet) so up it goes!

Valentine's Day

Keep on the lookout for a new Valentine's Day strip tomorrow (or more likely, late tonight). It will appear on both the main site and at the top of this page. The very first comic I ever had published also happened to run on Valentine's day, I believe in 1999 when I was a junior in high school. Man, how times have changed. I don't have that strip anymore (damn school paper editors lost it) but I'm sure it looked like crap compared to the comics I draw nowadays, and the gag wasn't all that great either.

The thing that's really allowed me more freedom in drawing comics is my (fairly) new Wacom Graphire3 graphics tablet. If you don't know what a graphics tablet is, it's a flat, (usually) rectangular device that plugs into your computer and comes with at least a pen tool, and usually a mouse as well. Anything you draw on the pad shows up on your screen; it's very similar to actually drawing with an actual pen and paper. The pen tool works just like a real pen or pencil. Turn it upside down and you can erase what you've done. The pen can sense 512 different levels of pressure, so the harder you press down the thicker and darker your line gets. The whole package integrates flawlessly into Photoshop 7 and CS and has made comic drawing even more of a joy than it was before, as it's the perfect medium for creating a web comic.

Chug a lugga

I've signed up at so many places that are supposed to increase your blog traffic, like BlogAzoo, BlogClicker, Blog Explosion, and most recently, Hit Safari, which seems to promote mainly shady money-making websites. The method these sites use seems great for generating traffic to your blog, but man it's time consuming. We'll see which of these sites performs the best. Anyone out there have any preference?

New home for the blog!

Well, after trying to get this thing set up at ModBlog (unsuccessfully), I've decided to settle it on Blogger. I think it looks pretty nice for how much time I put into it (read: very little). I'll still continue to update the "News" section of the main comics site but this blog will be a good way to get some more personal information about me and my interest in cartooning out there.

New blog!

Well, this is my new blog. It's going to mainly be a place where I can write about my comic strip, George...maybe throw some comic strip ideas out there, tell you guys what's going on in George's world, and maybe even throw some new comics up before they're published on the main site. So...keep coming back!
